The HouseRater Mobile app is designed to preserve data, even if crashes or weird behavior is preventing your device from synchronizing information to the cloud. When things go weird, try some of the steps below to troubleshoot these problems.
Synchronization Issues
When you encounter sync issues, it can be frustrating to waste time getting the information off your device and uploaded to the web app.
Site Visits open, but never sync
Some data points can mess up the server if they're tracked in an outdated version of the app, or if the server doesn't expect the info your iPad is storing π©. When this happens, check that you're on the latest version of the app, and try opening the visit and re-selecting the same value for some of the dropdowns on that inspection.
If the data still isn't synchronizing π, you can send a copy of your device's contents to our support team by pressing and holding the Site Inspection tile from the app main screen, and choosing "Send to Support"βthis shares useful debugging π information with the HouseRater team.
App Crashes when Collecting Data
When the app repeatedly crashes for collecting a specific data point, it may be an issue in our software π ββοΈ. These crash reports automatically get uploaded to HouseRater when your device connects online again, and we monitor crashes regularly π¨βπ».
If you're still having trouble, you can add a Generic Note to the visit to store energy data points temporarily by selecting the blue "+" circle at the bottom left of the inspection form, and selecting the pencil βοΈ symbol.
